Keep Your Crypto Safe Around Quantum Computers

At some point in the not-too-distant future commercially available quantum computers will be able to decrypt sensitive information including that stored on blockchains. In This episode we talk to Pierre-Luc Dallaire-Demers from the Pauli Group about post quantum cryptography for blockchains

For blockchains, it’s a coordination problem rather than a technical one..time is not infinite, so it’s going to take a few years…starting now would be great.

The Truth about Quantum Computing

In our last episode we shared news of Google’s new Quantum computer, which raised all kinds of questions about breaking Bitcoin’s cryptographic code. While we were able to speculate a bit about what that means, we decided to invite a quantum physicist to the show to provide deeper insight.
The very specific method that Satoshi picked to sign the transactions… it turns out is 100 times easier to break that the one used by banks.

We’re now seeing the path to quantum computers which will be large enough to threaten cryptography in the next decade, which is now very concerning for everything blockchain.
